“Golden Hour” explores the distinctive changes of autumn. The source of inspiration is the unique play of light when the low-hanging sun bathes the autumn foliage and ripe fields in warm shades of gold, ochre, and amber. These hues symbolize both the maturity and abundance of the annual cycle and the transience of nature, just before the cooler months set in.
At the same time, the painting serves as a bridge, as the process of letting go and the gentle drifting of the leaves symbolize an impending new beginning following a period of rest. Ultimately, the viewer is left with a fascinating paradox:
it is impossible to determine unequivocally whether the work captures the final passing of the season or already carries within it the quiet seed of something new..
